Interviews of celebrities are boring. Don't you wish the interviewer would ask Steve Carell about how bad Evan Almighty was? Or yawn when Michael Cera gives a trite response about his "passion for acting?" In the funnyordie.com exclusive web series Between Two Ferns, host Zach Galifianakis never shies away from the tough questions.
Galifianakis' guest list consists of Hollywood heavyweights like Carell, Cera, Ben Stiller, Natalie Portman, Sean Penn, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Aniston and more. Galifianakis' deadpan delivery is complemented by his guests' serious, professional approach--they all play it completely straight (or try to). Galifianakis repeatedly goes too far and makes obscene observations: He tells Natalie Portman that his dick is bigger than her dog's and asks Ben Stiller to do the "Blue Steel" look from "Jewlander."
Galifianakis' delivery excuses his inappropriateness because he interviews like a child would, without a sense of just how outside the lines his comments are. The results are awkward, hysterical interactions that provide a new perspective on celebrities who are willing to laugh at themselves.
