One lucky skier's fond memories of riding the now-retired Morning Star Chairlift at Bogus Basin could win that person a piece of history: one of the lift's iconic chairs.

The Morning Star Chairlift Story Contest, in which entrants share their memories of riding the lift in stories of no more than 250 words, runs until Sunday, June 2. Entrants must be at least 18 years old, entries are limited to one submission per person, and photos are optional, but not required. The winner will be selected by a panel of celebrity judges, including Betsy Russell of the Idaho Press, and the winner will be announced on Friday, June 7.

At the end of its 2018-2019 ski season, Bogus Basin announced that, after 50 years, the Morning Star Chairlift (Chair No. 2) would be replaced with a high-speed quad chairlift. The Morning Star lift began coming down in April, and earlier this month, 30 of the chairs went to the highest bidders in an online auction, bringing in more than $75,000 to the nonprofit. Another of the chairs was a grand prize in a special Idaho Gives Day raffle. Now, Bogus officials are asking the public to share their stories for a chance to win a unique piece of memorabilia. Additionally, a number of the entries are expected to be shared via social media.

Entries for the Morning Star Chairlift Story Contest should be emailed to marketing@bogusbasin.org, and are due by June 2.
