The record jackpot of $579.9 million was won last night - but lottery officials say the lucky ticket holders have no idea of their windfall.
Missouri Lottery official Susan Goedde confirmed to ABC News the winners, who will split the jackpot and receive $293.75 million each, were yet to be identified.
She said the tickets were purchased in Arizona and Missouri but officials would reveal further details of the town and store at a press conference later this morning.
The winning numbers for the jackpot were 5, 23, 16, 22 and 29. The Powerball was 6.
Lottery officials said an additional 8,924,123 players won smaller prizes including Match 5 Winners, who get $1 million prizes.
"There were 58 winners of $1 million and there were eight winners of $2 million. So a total of $74 million," said Chuck Strutt, Director of the Multi-State Lottery Association.
CNN reported the prize for the lottery ballooned to historic levels this week after the jackpot failed to go off 16 times.
Wednesday's prize, held in 42 states, the US Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia, was the largest in Powerball history and the second-largest top prize in US lottery history.
