Wild Protected Pussy to be Impounded

by

Karen Goekect, a resident of Garden City, bought what she claims she thought was a domestic cat from a breeder in Minnesota for $2,000. She took it to a veterinarian in Utah to have the animal spyed and declawed, but it was discovered that she owned a lynx, a threatened wild species and also one of the best four-letter words to play in Scrabble. In Idaho, it is fine to own a lynx, as long as owners have a health certificate and an import liscense, but in Utah, only zoos and pelt farms can legally own lynx. When lynx reach their full size, at 30 to 40 pounds, they would eat any housecat for lunch. And if not declawed, their half-inch claws would make short work of a pit bull, too.
