More than 200 competitors will converge on the Boise State campus for the 2005 Boise State Taekwondo Open Championships on November 12. The public is invited to watch students of the Korean martial art battle it out to No. 1.
Championships contenders from all over the Northwest will compete in sparring and poomse, or in forms (translated as "kicking opponent hiney with the Ralph Macchio crane" or "kicking imaginary opponent hiney performing sequenced poses").
Making the event uber-official, the competition will be governed by rules set by the governing bodies of Olympic Taekwondo competition, USA Taekwondo and the World Taekwondo Federation. Competition begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom with $3 admission for the general public and $2 for students, seniors and children.
