- People experiencing homelessness can join the walk at no cost.
In Boise, it is extremely uncomfortable—if not dangerous—to spend extended periods outside in both summer and winter. To help raise awareness for homeless people who face sometimes extreme conditions, the Boise/Ada County Homeless Coalition is hosting Walk A Mile in My Shoes, a one-mile walk to acknowledge the plight of the homeless population.
"We know it will be cold and dark, but that's the point," reads the coalition website. Registration is in the St. Luke's Parking Lot at the corner of Americana Blvd. and W. Spa St. at 5 p.m. (or in advance online), and the walk leaves at 5:30 p.m., finishing in the Grove Center with a discussion of the issue of homelessness, the people it affects and the resources available. Take the first step toward a solution with your $10 registration fee.
