Awake (2007)

by

One only needs 84 minutes of consciousness to witness two attractive leads, Jessica Alba and Hayden Christensen, unsuccessfully attempt to act their way out of a box—or, more appropriately, out of a comatose state.

Despite his defective heart, the biggest problem facing billionaire financier Clay Beresford, Jr. (Christensen) is the inability to tell his overbearing mother he's engaged to her assistant (Alba) ... until the day of his surgery, when, accidentally under-anesthetized, he overhears some bad news.

Rookie director Joby Harold spins interesting twists into his somewhat suspenseful screenplay, making it better than previews suggested, but needless introductory text and shoddy casting explain the film's theatrical tank job.
