Video: Giant Sequoia Moves From St. Luke's to Fort Boise Park

Idaho's tallest and oldest giant sequoia was reportedly resting comfortably Monday morning following its transplantation from St. Luke's Regional Medical Center to Fort Boise Park.

The $300,000 undertaking lifted the 10-story tree from its previous location to its new home. The transplant was the first step in a massive expansion of the downtown campus of St. Luke's, and required the closure of a stretch of Jefferson Street near the hospital.

Crews began moving the sequoia June 25 at approximately 1 a.m., and they began lowering the tree into its new location about 10 hours later. The plan is to use soil from the original location to help the tree adapt to its new surroundings.
