- Jefferson County Sheriff Blair Olsen
In January, Olsen was indicted on four felony counts—three counts of misuse of public funds and another count of personal use of public funds. If convicted, Olsen faces a maximum penalty of 19 years behind bars. Prosecutors allege that Olsen knowingly used public money to buy a cellphone and cellphone services for his wife. The indictment also alleged that Olsen used county funds to pay for his lifetime membership to the National Rifle Association.
In April, the Idaho attorney general's office said it was looking to lodge more charges against Olsen, accusing the sheriff of threatening witnesses and potential witnesses.
KIFI-TV reports that the process to select 12 jurors was scheduled to begin today in Twin Falls County.
