"A universal sense of justice was violated," said Navarro before handing down her ruling, dismissing the case "with prejudice."
Bundy's sons Ammon and Ryan also beat previous felony charges in a separate case stemming from a 41-day standoff at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, an eastern Oregon wildlife preserve, in 2016.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Navarro's ruling was yet another defeat for the federal government at the hands of the Bundy family, "who have managed to elude prosecution in high-profile trials" centered around standoffs with law enforcement.
In a statement from the nonpartisan conservation and advocacy organization Center for Western Priorities, CWP Executive Director Jennifer Rokala said, "Letting the Bundys walk free on a technicality should send a chill down the spines of anyone who values our parks, wildlife refuges and all public lands."
