UPDATE: McCall Bandit Shoots at Police, Still At Large

Federal authorities announced late Monday that two men have been taken into custody in Utah in connection with a Jan. 10 robbery of an ATM in McCall.

The FBI said 34-year-old Nathan Davenport and 39-year-old Matthew Annable were arrested by arrested by federal agents on Jan. 12. The two have been charged with theft and aiding and abetting.

The two suspects remain in Utah custody and federal charges have not yet been filed in Idaho against the two.

The Valley County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that a vehicle has been found that is linked to a Jan. 10 armed robbery in McCall.

Witnesses said the incident began about 9 p.m. Jan. 10, when a man, brandishing a weapon, broke into an ATM just outside of the Idaho First Bank branch on Deinhard Lane. Some witnesses said they heard several rounds of gunfire coming from the scene.

Police pursued the man, who drove away in two-toned pickup truck, and on at least two occasions, law enforcement exchanged gunfire with the suspect. Lawmen said they initially believed that the suspect was hiding out in the area of the CareFree subdivision, in southeast McCall, and urged residents to "lock their doors and windows, stay inside and do not answer the door," according to a statement from the sheriff's office. Authorities said the suspect was considered armed and dangerous.

McCall Police and the Valley County Sheriff's Office were joined in the investigation by Idaho State Police, the Adams County Sheriff's Office, Cascade Police and Idaho Fish and Game in their search for the suspect.

And while authorities didn't give many details, they did confirm this morning that a two-toned pickup had been found. No word yet on the whereabouts of the suspect.

Social media lit up in the McCall area late Friday night as residents began buzzing about reports of an armed bandit shooting at local law enforcement and shots fired later in a neighborhood in southeast McCall.


Eventually, McCall Police and the Valley County Sheriff's Department confirmed the shooting overnight, warning residents of a McCall subdivision to stay indoors.

When law enforcement. tried to confront the suspect, shots were fired at McCall police officers. Early reports from the scene were that no officers were injured, but their vehicles were disabled by the gunfire.


Valley County Sheriff's officials confirm that the suspect was initially believed to be in the area of the CareFree subdivision, just south of McCall.


"Anyone that lives in this area is asked to lock their doors and windows, stay inside and do not answer the door," read a statement from the sheriff's office.

Multiple comments posted on the Valley County Sheriff's Department Facebook page refer to at least four shots being fired near a subdivision in southeast McCall in the overnight hours. McCall police, Valley County Sheriff's deputies and Idaho State Police remained on the scene into the early morning hours.
