Union organizer drops charges

A capenters' union rep who filed battery charges against a state representative Wednesday has dropped the charges, a Boise Police Department spokesman said.

Max Murphy, Boise representative for the Pacific Northwest Regional Council of Carpenters, filed a police report on Wednesday against Boise Rep. Max Black, alleging that Black shoved him at a picket outside the Statehouse.

Black denied that he pushed Murphy, and Murphy has since notified Boise police that he will not pursue charges.

BW broke the story yesterday. Murphy has not returned calls this morning.
