Two Boys Behind the Wheel, One Of Them Dead

Pocatello police are still mulling over whether they should charge a 9-year-old boy or his parents in connection with a June 12 incident in which the child was caught driving erratically through town and running stop lights.

The Idaho State Journal reports that this was the boy's second driving incident. The latest episode ended when a witness called police saying he thought the person behind the wheel of a car was drunk. When the witness got a closer look, he saw a child was behind the wheel running red lights and stop signs.

Meanwhile, a Montana 15 year old was killed in the early morning hours of June 14 after leading police on a car chase. The boy, from the northern Montana community of Hungry Horse, led police on a chase that ended near U.S. Highway 2. That's where the boy's car went off the road, down an embankment and hit a tree. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt. Two other boys in the vehicle were injured in the crash. This morning's Missoulian reports that the wreck was under investigation and the cause of the chase was not immediately known.
