The Lamphouse Theatre in Twin Falls is to the Magic Valley what the Flicks is to Boise. As the area's only art house film venue, the Lamphouse was, for six years, the place to catch foreign, independent and otherwise off-the-beaten-track movies on the big screen and to rent them for the small screens at home.
Well, no more. As of March 2, the Lamphouse has shown its last film and closed its doors.
We may be clear over here in the Treasure Valley, but the Lamphouse closure serves as a cautionary tale for Boise's moviegoers: If you like anything other than mainstream cinema, go support the theaters showing the lesser-known gems. Otherwise, they might go the way of the Lamphouse.
