The Treasure Valley YMCA has named a leader ahead of the retirement of longtime CEO Jim Everett

After a national search, the Treasure Valley YMCA board of directors selected David Duro, a YMCA executive and 33-year veteran of the organization, to succeed Everett as president and CEO.

Duro began his career at the Boise YMCA in 1982, serving in capacities ranging from night custodian to Physical Education director before leaving to work as CEO of the Clallam County Family YMCA in Washington state.

After returning to the Treasure Valley in 1995, Duro became the organization's president and chief operating officer, later rising to become a senior resource director for the YMCA of the USA.

"I am thrilled," Duro stated in a news release. "This Y has a rich history and strong tradition of meeting critical social issues in our community, and I am honored to be selected to build upon the great work that has been achieved under the leadership of Jim Everett, an icon in our community."

He is slated to begin official duties Nov. 16, serving alongside Everett to "ensure a smooth transition," stated the release.
