The softer side of Stephen King

In the December 8 issue of Entertainment Weekly, Stephen King lists his Top 10 tunes and albums of 2006:

10. "Drunk All Around This Town" by Scott Miller and the Commonwealth, tied with Hank Williams III's "My Drinkin' Problem."

9. "Over My Head (Cable Car)," by The Fray.

8. "Face the Promise," by Bob Seger.

7. "I'm A Rat," by Towers of London.

6. Snake Farm, by Ray Wylie Hubbard.

5. Zoysia, by The Bottle Rockets

4. "Chasing Cars," by Snow Patrol.

3. "Hey Valerie!" by The Derailers

2. "God's Gonna Cut You Down," by Johnny Cash.

And, King's all-time favorite music for 2006 is Idahoan Josh Ritter's The Animal Years. King says the album is "mysterious, melancholy, melodic ... and that's only the M's."

Women helping Women

On Dec. 17, singer-songwriters Mo Kelly and Niccole Bayley will put on a benefit show at the Flicks for the Chrysalis organization, a group that helps women released from prison to make transitions and positive life changes. See next week's issue for more information on the show. For more information on the Chrysalis organization, visit www.chrysaliswomenidaho.org.
