It's another year and another judge's liver for Boise's Martini Mix-Off. The final party in BoDo on June 6 was packed full of martini aficionados and barflies. With a record number of ties going into the finals, it was anyone's guess as to who was going to win. So without further ado ...
In the classic martini category, Chandlers' Pat Carden and "The Vesper Reconsidered" surprised few; Carden was the favorite, having won this category five of the last six years. Second place went to a '70s-style classic martini. Pair's Jen Kobel presented "The Blue-By-You" with its unique garnish, a kumquat. Third place went to Red Feather's Mark Allen and his "Quintessence."
In the original martini category, Mark Allen from Red Feather walked away with first place for his "Tolerance Juice." Bardenay came in second with Sean Earley's "The Masala Martini" and its beautifully stenciled Hindi symbol in the froth on top. Third place went to Angell's Bar & Grill and "The Fallen Angell."
In the cocktail category first place went to Jen Kobel with Pair's "The Limonare." Second place went to Tablerock's Sarah Proctor and "The Ty Webb." Sean Early and Bardenay took third with "The Sixth Sense."
Some bars participated in a food judging and first place was awarded to Angell's Bar & Grill.
You can still enjoy all of these winners and all the competitors at all participating bars through Tuesday, June 30.
