The Jailer Becomes the Jailed

by

A Canyon County jailer has been suspended indefinitely without pay after being arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. Joe Salazar, 48, of Caldwell was pulled over by a Boise Police officer soon after last call on the morning of February 24 for a traffic violation. The officer immediately arrested Salazar on suspicion of DUI.

Salazar reportedly was released later Thursday morning, and soon relayed word of the misdemeanor arrest to his bosses at the Canyon County Sheriff's Office. He has worked as a detention officer at the Canyon County jail since 1997, and while without any previous DUIs on his record, Salazar could potentially face dismissal from his position.
