With the occasional sunny, 60-degree day, it's easy to forget ski season is still in swing.

"The nice weather does affect us," said John Hart, communications director at Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area. "If the grass is greener down in the valley, you see the bikes and the hikers out. People start doing other things."

Bogus Basin began reducing its seasonal work force in the past few weeks to cut down on operating costs going into spring. The night skiing on the mountain is set for Saturday, March 26, and seven-day operations are expected to close on Sunday, April 3.

After that, Bogus will be open on Saturday and Sunday, April 9 and 10; and Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"We've had three feet of snowfall since mid-March. That alone has recharged our good, solid base," Hart said. "The new snow has given us end-of-season life."

Last year, the mountain closed on March 13, with much of the snow melted off. Hart said there will probably be snow on Bogus through May, but skiers are ready for spring activities.

Mountain officials are planning an end-of-season party, which will include a pond skim sometime in April.

Tamarack Resort, on the other hand, is closing for the season on Sunday, March 27. The mountain will host the State of Idaho Pond Skimming Championships on Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m. (registration begins at 11 a.m.). Easter Sunday will include an Easter Egg scavenger hunt, complete with riddles on Twitter throughout the week.

Brundage Mountain managers plant to keep the resort open clear through Sunday, April 24.

"We have the deepest spring snowpack we've seen in several years," the website boasts.

The mountain has received 14 inches in the past 48 hours.

With that, seven-day operations will close on Sunday, April 10 but bonus weekends will run on April 16 and 17, as well as April 23 and 24. Brundage's Crazy Daze and Pond Skimming celebration will still take place on Saturday, April 9.
