UPDATE: Suspect Charged With Attempted Murder Following Stabbing in Southeast Boise Neighborhood

UPDATE, Nov. 8, 2018, 5 p.m.: A Boise man is behind bars, charged with a felony count of attempted murder, following a Thursday stabbing of another man in a Southeast Boise neighborhood. Police said the suspect, 36-year-old Ruben Diaz told investigators that he wanted to harm or kill someone.

Police said Diaz did not the stabbing victim, a 74-year-old man, doing yard work in front of his home on the 3900 block of Preamble Place. Ada County Paramedics transported to a local hospital for treatment for serious knife wounds.

In addition to attempted murder, Diaz was also charged with a felony count of aggravated assault. He'll be arraigned at the Ada County Courthouse on Friday, Nov. 9.

ORIGINAL STORY, Nov. 8, 2018, 12 p.m.: Boise Police said Thursday afternoon that they had taken a male suspect into custody following a late-morning stabbing in a southeast Boise neighborhood. Police were summoned to the 3900 block of Preamble Place just before 11 a.m. following a report of a stabbing outside of a residence. BPD said when officers arrived on the scene, a male victim was discovered and rushed to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.

Police said a second man was on the scene, still holding a knife. When the suspect didn't comply with an order to drop the weapon, two officers subdued the man after firing their tasers. The suspect was also transported to a local hospital to be assessed. No word yet on his identity. An investigation by the Boise Police Violent Crimes Unit is ongoing.
