Supporters of Boise Bond Initiatives Report $137,000 in Campaign Donations

Proponents of two ballot initiatives that will be put before Boise voters in less than four weeks have built up a healthy campaign warchest.

In documents filed with the city of Boise Oct. 8, the campaign—YES! YES! For Boise—reported that it has raised more than $137,000 to fuel its get-out-the-vote effort to support bonds for two separate public safety and open space initiatives.

"To receive this high level of support from the business community—including an endorsement from the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce—signals that our local businesses understand that Boise's economy and our collective prosperity is directly tied to the investments we make in public safety and our quality of life," said campaign co-chair Hollis Brookover.

Among the donors: Boise Firefighters Local #149 ($1,250), GBAD Board Director James Walker ($500); Westerberg and Associates ($1,000); Boise School Board President A.J. Balukoff ($5,000); ESI ($15,000); Gardner Property Holdings ($15,000); Professional Firefighters of Idaho ($2,000); Blue Cross of Idaho ($1,000); Primary Health ($2,500); Western Aircraft ($5,000); MWI Veterinary Supply ($5,000); Syringa Networks ($2,500); Thornton, Oliver, Keller ($1,000); D.L. Evans Bank ($1,000); Old Boise Properties ($1,000); GBAD Board President and Idaho Rep. Hy Kloc ($100); and St. Luke's Regional Medical Center ($5,000).

Among expenses are $5,000 for Strategies 360, the Seattle-based PR and marketing firm with a Boise office. The campaign also reported an additional $3,634 in debt owed to Strategies 360 for literature, brochures and printing.

To date, YES! YES! For Boise is reporting nearly $85,000 in cash on-hand.
