Free Solo, one of 2018's most-heralded films and a top contender for the Best Feature Length Documentary Oscar, will be showcased by the Sun Valley Film Festival in an award season screening on Sunday, Dec. 30. The holiday season at the Sun Valley Opera House, which will include a post-screening Q&A with surprise guests, is being offered to SVFF patrons.  Details on the festival's tax-deductible Patrons Program benefits, which offer "front of line" access and invitations can be found by clicking here.

Earlier this year, Free Solo, fresh off a flurry of great critical notices, set an all-time box office record in per-screen box office receipts for a documentary, breaking a 12-year PSA record previously held by An Inconvenient Truth.

Produced by National Geographic Documentaries, Free Solo chronicles the pulse-pounding achievements of Alex Honnold who scaled the sheer rock face of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. Three months after attending its international premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival where it won the Audience Choice Documentary Award, my heart is still racing. It's unlike any film, including many other docs that have captured daring rock-climbing feats, you've ever seen.

Meanwhile, organizers are busy crafting the slate for the eighth annual Sun Valley Film Festival which will run Wednesday, March 13th through Sunday, March 17. For complete SVFF information, including details on the the multiple options for festival passes, click here.
