When: June 22-23 2012
The Special Olympics of Idaho is looking for dedicated volunteers to join the venue management team. The individuals that fill these roles will need to be present at the state summer games Friday, June 22 and Saturday, June 23, and also attend two planning/training meetings prior to the state summer games.
Volunteers are needed for the following positions:
• Volunteer Coordinator: The Volunteer Coordinator manages the check-in/information table at the venue and helps individuals with questions. They will greet and check-in both athletes and volunteers, direct volunteers to the appropriate areas and train the other volunteers that will work at the at check-in/information table. The volunteer coordinator will be trained by the volunteer director on how to use the venue binder. Reports to the venue director.
• Logistics Coordinator: The logistics coordinator will manage the logistical needs of the competition venue. They will ensure that the venue has the necessary equipment and supplies (awards equipment, signage, sports equipment, tables, chairs, meals, etc.) for a successful competition. They are responsible for coordinating the transport of equipment and supplies to the competition venue and ensuring all equipment is accounted for and returned to the SOID warehouse at the end of competition. Reports to the venue director.
• Awards Coordinator: The awards coordinator is in charge of the flow, look and feel of the awards ceremonies at the venue. They will ensure the awards process runs smoothly from beginning to end. This includes organizing awards, distributing awards, announcing awards, creating a memorable experience for athletes and ensuring official results are returned to the venue binder. They will ensure all signage, awards stations, award stands, etc., are all properly and functionally placed at the venue. Reports to the venue director.
• Staging coordinator: The staging coordinator will manage the staging of athletes for the Parade of Athletes. They will organize athletes into groups according to team in order to ensure a continuous flow throughout the Parade of Athletes. They must be able to organize and instruct other staging volunteers. Reports to the ceremonies director.
