For weeks, the Boise Ice Cream Festival has been taking place at more than a dozen events across the City of Trees, but on June 15, hundreds of people turned out at JUMP for three sessions of its Grand Tasting.

There, national vendors like Baskin Robbins and Ben & Jerry's went head to head with the locals, like The STIL and Goody's, scooping samples of classic flavors and originals to hundreds of kids and adults alike.

This was the first year of the festival, which combined the popular dessert with sometimes tricky issues, like ice cream for people with dietary restrictions or allergies, though the Grand Tasting, its final event, was a capstone for all comers and definitely worth the brain freeze.
