When: Thu., Sept. 3, 6-10 p.m. 2009
Artists from around the world send in their spectacular creations of altered eyewear for the annual donation drive and show put on by The Mend Project. Guests can bid in a silent auction for the glasses and take a good look at eyewear art created from an outreach workshop at The Boys and Girls Club and an art installation of more than 1,000 pieces of donated used eyewear from the community. The silent auction and raffle end at 9 p.m. Get good information at booths set up by The Church of Kraft, The ReUseum, Idaho Metal Arts Guild and The Mend Project. Children will be able to create their own pair of eyewear during a workshop and the Vinyl Preservation Society of Idaho will spin some music. The all ages event includes beer and wine available for purchase with ID. Proceeds from the event benefit The Mend Project and Unite for Sight (uniteforsight.org), a nonprofit organization that empowers communities worldwide to improve eye health and eliminate preventable blindness.
Price: $5 suggested donation or $2 with donation of eyewear; admission is FREE for children
