Sandwich Shop Tasso Opens in BoDo

Tasso gets points for innovating. The sandwich shop, which opened at the former location of Fresh Off the Hook in BoDo on Feb. 7, has a creative menu to satisfy downtowners' lunch cravings, and is an easy walk for people visiting the City of Trees and staying at one of the newly minted hotels nearby.

Its Bocadillo (pictured) is a ciabatta baguette filled with ham, manchego cheese and a drizzle of olive oil, while the Country Devil includes ham, pork "roasted with succulence," Gruyere, whole-grain mustard, gravy and pickled onions between halved french bread. Each sandwich comes with popcorn and a pickle, and costs $11.

Influences on the menu span the globe, ranging from Italy to Thailand, and have inspired unexpected supplementary items like chickpeas on Thai roti flatbread, potato salad with steelhead trout and more. The sides come in at $4 each, and are also sold by the pound.
