Rocci Johnson Band, July 6

Back in the day, Hannah's was the place to go to get your drink on, get your groove on and get your hook-up on. And it still is. Well, the drink and groove part anyway (I'm well beyond the hook-up stage of my life). Wednesday nights at Hannah's are about as fun as you're going to find in this town. This last Wednesday night, some of the Boise Weekly staff joined the throng of After Alive After Fivers whooping it up at Hannah's. The Rocci Johnson Band played danceable tunes and played them well. Rocci really got the crowd going with songs like The Black Eyed Peas' "Don't Phunk With My Heart" (for the young) and Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music, White Boy" (for the young-at-heart). All the while, the ever-friendly wait staff kept bringing on delicious cocktail concoctions that the bartenders kept mixing up. 103.3, the radio station, was on hand during the band's breaks to keep the under 30-somethings happy with hip-hop and when the Rocci Johnson Band took back the stage, their covers of songs like Simple Minds' "Don't You (Forget About Me)" made even an older white-haired fellow and his older white-haired friend go out and cut a rug.

As Hannah's house diva (and owner), Rocci-backed by the always talented Rocci Johnson Band-gives it her all every time. You'd never know she'd been doing this for years because each time you see Rocci, it's as fresh and fun as the first. It may have been awhile since you've been to Hannah's. Some of the faces have changed, sure, but it's still the same, rockin' place. Alive After Five may be fun, but if you want to party like it's 1999, try Hannah's After Alive After Five.

Rocci Johnson Band, 9:30 p.m., Hannah's. Wednesdays there's no cover and Fridays and Saturdays, it's only $4.
