Rob Reynolds: Most Painted Mountain

When: Thu., July 7, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Wednesdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Continues through Aug. 6 2016

Check out this solo exhibition featuring new paintings by the Los Angeles-based artist. The paintings of iconic mountains on five continents are rendered meticulously from recent photographs sourced in the public domain and published on the Internet. But as the viewer moves closer, the imagery dissolves into the pure materiality of paint, nodding to the Light and Space artists’ interest in tempered atmosphere. Reynolds also pays homage to Andy Warhol’s Do It Yourself, paint by number works from the 1960s. He leaves areas for the viewer to visually fill in the blanks, while also creating a metaphoric ghost-like effect within the snowy mountains. Opening reception July 7, 4-7 p.m. Through Aug. 6.
