The Rose room, Friday, Dec. 22

Christmas is a time of giving and sharing, and you've probably picked up a little something special for everyone on your list. Now it's time to treat yourself. Get a massage? Maybe. Buy a new pair of shoes? OK. Or, you could do something fun and treat yourself to a night of hard rock and heavy metal.

On Friday, put on your best black T-shirt and your favorite leather pants or ripped jeans, head to the Rose Room and get ready to tear it up. Familia 2 Records and 100.3 the X host X-MAS '06, an alcohol-free night of raffles, prizes, DJs, Time For Change and headliners Ripchain.

Ripchain's been in the studio working on a new album and frontman Dave Ford says the band is excited to get back out on stage. They've got a hat-trick of shows this month: they played Grove Street on December 16, they're at the Rose Room on Friday and will play on Saturday, December 23, at the Big Easy with Auditory Reform, Factory Air and Distal. Both the Friday and Saturday shows are all-ages.

Whether you've been naughty or nice, give yourself the gift of head-banging and shredding guitars this year and go hang out for a night (or two) with ass-kickin' heavy-metal babe-magnets, Ripchain.
