Rediscovered Books Throws Release Party For First Published Title, Kicks Off Short Nonfiction Contest

Boise author Rick Just was in the house at Rediscovered Books on First Thursday, signing copies of his recently released book for children, A Kid's Guide to Boise, which happens to also be the first title published by Rediscovered Publishing.

It was at the release party that the Rediscovered crew announced a new nonfiction writing contest, Infamous Idaho. As Rediscovered Publishing looks to expand its stable of authors, it's seeking short nonfiction stories based on Idaho history that illustrate the hilarious, the horrible, the notorious or the outlandish aspects of the Gem State. Winners will be awarded a cash prize, the size of which will be determined by the number of entries received.

Entries must be 1,000-1,500 words in length and be geared toward a fourth- to sixth-grade reading level (ages 10-12 years). Entrants must be ages 18 and over and be Idaho residents. The contest is already open and the deadline for entries is Sunday, Sept. 30. For more details, check out the Infamous Idaho website. Winners will be announced by Friday, Nov. 30.
