Work it Out
It's commonly known that exercise relieves stress, but when stress is caused by not being able to pay the bills, it's hard to justify a gym membership. That's why the Treasure Valley YMCA clubs are offering scholarships to families who need a little extra help.
This year, YMCA will have $4.5 million to assist families who can prove a need for help, continuing the organization's goal to never turn anyone away because of an inability to pay.
For more information, call your local YMCA club. In Boise, the downtown club can be reached at 208-344-5501 and the West Boise club at 208-377-9622.
For those looking to really get away from it all, on the cheap, the Cascade Ranger District in Boise National Forest is now taking reservations for Johnson Creek Guard Station.
The guard station was built in 1922 and sits in a meadow south of Yellow Pine in the Johnson Creek drainage near the East Fork of the Salmon River. There's indoor plumbing, heat, a refrigerator, and wildlife just out the front door.
The cabin is available for public rentals June 10-Oct. 1 for $50 per night, and reservations may be made at recreation.gov, just search for the station by name. For more information, call the ranger district at 208-382-7400.
