A settlement between United Water and the Community Action Partnership Association of Idaho would see an increase in water bills of about 6 percent in 2016 and another 1.4 percent increase in 2017 instead of the one-time 13.2 percent increase that United Water had initial proposed.
The Idaho Public Utilities Commission would need to sign off on the settlement but only after public and technical hearings, set for Thursday, Nov. 1.
The proposed settlement also calls for an increase to the United Water Cares program from $65 to $75 per customer per year, to provide financial assistance to low-income customers.
The proposed settlement would see an increase to standard residential customers of approximately $1.25 per month, effective Dec. 16.
