Police Contract Settled?

Update: Yup, it's settled. See BW Beat at right, 'kay?

After months of acrimonious fighting, name-calling and personal attacks, the Boise Police Union appears to have a new contract.

The Police Union voted on the contract Monday night, and the Boise City Council was set to meet in a special meeting on Wednesday morning to approve it. As of press time, details of the actual contract were unknown although it was expected to be approved.

The police have been working without a contract for more than a year, and the battle to work out the details turned bitter in recent months. The union seems to have won one point of contention. According to the Council agenda, the contract is dated from April 1, 2006, to March 31, 2010, giving the union the four-year contract it had wanted.
