A pedestrian was struck and killed just before sunrise Wednesday on State Street, near Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Boise police and emergency medical responders were called to the scene of the incident near the intersection of State Street and Clithero Drive at approximately 6:50 a.m. That's where witnesses told police a vehicle heading eastbound on State struck an adult male who was crossing the street. The man, who was reportedly not in the crosswalk at the time of the collision, was rushed to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle, identified only as a 45-year-old Boise man, was uninjured in the crash. Investigators diverted traffic from the busy thoroughfare through much of the Wednesday morning rush hour. The Ada County coroner is expected to identify the victim later in the day, pending notification of family.
