- Pastor Tim Remington, 55, of Coeur d'Alene, has served more than 20 years at The Altar Church in Coeur d'Alene.
Coeur d'Alene Pastor Tim Remington remains in intensive care after being shot a dozen times March 6 in the parking lot of his church. Meanwhile, Remington's congregation at The Altar Church held its first worship service since the attack.
The alleged shooter, Kyle Odom, 30, of Coeur d'Alene, reportedly fled to Boise and was arrested two days later in Washington, D.C., where he was found tossing a flash drive and a packet of documents over the White House fence. Authorities later said the packet included a lengthy "hypersexualized Martian manifesto" that threatened the lives of scores of people, including dozens of members of the United States Congress.
However, Spokane, Wash.-based Spokane's KHQ-TV reports that forgiveness was the theme of the first Sunday service at The Altar since the shooting.
“There’s an overflow of love and support from the community," said Altar Outreach Pastor John Padula. "And not just our local community but the community nationwide.”
Remington's mother told the congregation that one of the first concerns her son expressed after the shooting was a worry that he might not be able to play the piano again. She said she assured her son and the congregation that he would be playing the church's piano someday soon.
