One Dead After Car Crash Near New Plymouth

One person is dead following a single car rollover accident near New Plymouth on the morning of June 27.

Idaho State Police officers were at the scene at approximately 10:25 a.m. just east of New Plymouth, where a driver's side tires on a 1969 Chevrolet pickup blew, causing the driver to lose control of the pickup, which then crashed through a guardrail, rolled down an embankment and caught fire. 

The 16-year-old driver and two passengers were ejected from the pickup during the crash. The driver and one of the passengers, Christopher Scott, 21, of Conifer, Colo., were taken to regional hospitals for medical attention. The other passenger, Luke Harris, 20, of Laramie, Wyo., died from his injuries on the scene. Idaho State Police has notified his family. None of the pickup's occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. 

Idaho State Police are still investigating and are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or knows anyone who did to call 208-846-7500.
