Every once in a while, BW acts like we're part of a chain in a good way. We do so through our membership in the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies, a group that encompasses some 130 newspapers like ours across the country.

This week, the group is noting the 10th anniversary of the Kyoto Protocol, that point in time when the world's developed countries agreed that joint action was needed to curtail global warming. The essays, including the lead one by big thinker Bill McKibben, who wrote The End of Nature, are inside.
