´Several new venues in town have figured out that the way to our hearts is through our ears and are now offering live music. The Loft at 622 W. Idaho St. features local bands playing several nights a week. Terrapin Station at 1519 W. Main St. hosts several live bands a week and also offers up one night a week when they show a groovy movie for free. The Connector Bar and Grill at the corner of 16th Street and the connector has great live music every week. The Connector is also quite familiar with the traditional path to gain our love and serves up soul food: cornbread, collard green, barbecued ribs and more. Suh-weet!
´At the end of this year, Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor anyway) will commemorate the 30th anniversary of their two-time hit, "Bohemian Rhapsody" (first released in the U.S. December 7, 1975), with a special anniversary DVD and CD of the band's classic album A Night at the Opera.
´Paul Zollo's new book Conversations With Tom Petty is in bookstores today. The book precedes the 30th anniversary of the release of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' first album (November 1976) and is the first chronicle to focus solely on Petty's life and work. The book contains a series of in-depth discussions between Zollo and Petty and features rare photographs. The conversations are presented in question and answer format so it is essentially Petty "in his own words." In conjunction with the book's release, readers and fans are invited to enter to win a Fender electric guitar, autographed by Tom Petty. Go to www.ConversationsWithTomPetty.com to enter before December 1, 2005.
