Boise State University football fans will have a couple more parking options this season, beginning with its Friday, Sept. 4, season opener against the University of Washington, led by former BSU coach Chris Petersen.

Ada County officials announced this morning that they'll open their Ada County Courthouse/Civic Plaza complex for all of the home football games this season. Given its proximity to Albertsons Stadium, the 600 parking spaces should prove popular at $5 per vehicle. And the parking proceeds will help fund the FACES Family Justice Center which serves victims of child and domestic abuse. Patrons can either pay when they park or in advance at parkwhiz.com.

Meanwhile, the Discovery Center of Idaho, located on the edge of Julia Davis Park, will be using a new parking model during home Boise State University football games, allowing non-center guests to pay $20 for the privilege of parking very close to the stadium. The funds will help fund the popular non-profit museum.

And the Downtown Boise Association will be sponsoring free downtown shuttles to and from Albertsons Stadium during each game day. The shuttle is sponsored by the DBA, the Capital City Development Corporation, the Downtown Public Parking System, the City of Boise Mayor's Office, Boise State University, 94.9 The River, Hampton Inn Suites and several downtown restaurants.

Downtown pickups will occur every 15 minutes at the following locations:
  • Grove Street between Sixth Street and Capitol Boulevard (the Basque Block)
  • Eighth Street between Idaho and Bannock streets
  • Eighth & Broad streets
  • Main Street between 10th & 11th streets
