New Boise High Logo Goes Live

by , and

After a long controversy surrounding its mascot, Boise High School has rolled out a new logo, reflecting its move away from the “Boise Braves” mascot to “Boise Brave.”

The new logo is a large B surrounded by the Greek words for cardinal virtues, and according to Boise School District spokesman Dan Hollar, students and faculty collaborated on its design after throwing a logo contest open to anyone associated with the school.

The final version of the logo went live Sept. 26, when students were given new t-shirts sporting the new design.

The change comes on the heels of the school board’s decision to officially transition away from Boise High’s original mascot, the Boise Braves, which was offensive to Native Americans. In August, the school’s mascot was changed to “Boise Brave.”
