APOLOGY: My sincerest apologies to Ned Evett fans who went to the Boise State Special Events Center on September 22 to hear him play, only to find out the show was actually on September 23. This mix-up was through no fault of Evett or the SPEC, but was 100 percent my mistake. With a great deal to do to prepare for the Best of Boise issue, I was in a hurry and wasn't as diligent as I should have been. Rest assured, Evett's future Boise area shows will be thoroughly proofed for times and places.
Gene Loves Jezebel is playing this week. After rescheduling a couple of times, the show is on, for sure, Wednesday, October 5 at The Bouquet. A ticket will only cost you a five spot at the door. GLJ has been playing in various forms and formats since the early '80s and it should be not only a flash from the past, but a show chock full o' new tunes, too.
The Boise Blues Society presents an all ages Chicago blues show Sunday, October 16 at 7 p.m. at the Rose Room. Tickets are only $5 per person but it's free to get in if you are a Boise Blue Society member (which you can become right there at the show). The coolest part of the show is the feature artist Jimmy Burns. Raised in the Mississippi Delta, Burns plays raw, gritty blues and this is a great opportunity to see a performer of this caliber. Individual BBS memberships are $15, family memberships are $20 or you can become a corporate sponsor for $100. For more information, call Ken Harris at 440-4590.
