That leaves 21,000 tickets still available for the Wednesday, July 29 face off between Athletic Club de Bilbao—from the Spanish province of Biscay—and Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente—from Baja California, Mexico—at Albertsons Stadium.
Beristain moved to Boise two years ago and has since devoted her life to organizing the soccer match, which will take place during the 2015 Jaialdi Basque festival.
"It took finding the right team that got the entire vision, like Athletic Bilbao" Beristain told Boise Weekly. "When they found out the money was going to the Basque Studies Foundation at Boise State, they waived their appearance fees and they're coming at no cost to us."
Founded in 1898, Athletic Club de Bilbao has never played a game in North or South America. The team is ranked 23rd in the world, while Club Tijuana, which has been around for eight years, is ranked 94th.
Tickets to the friendly cost $39 to $99 and can be purchased here.
