Doucaine player Brother Niels Nielsen, a Benedictine monk from Mount Angel Abbey in St. Benedict, Ore., and organist/pianist Sean Rogers will perform a program spanning 11 centuries of music, ranging from medieval and klezmer to Danish and French art songs and jazz. Br. Niels, formerly known as Aage Nielsen, was the bass clarinetist with the Boise Philharmonic for 23 years, Darkwood Consort for 19 years, and taught at Northwest Nazarene University and The College of Idaho before beginning his monastic vocation. Sean Rogers, originally from Ontario, Ore., taught at The College of Idaho, where he earned four degrees, before embarking on a rigorous, touring career. He has performed throughout the United States and Europe while also serving as music director at First Presbyterian Church in Nampa.
