Meridian Winter Lights Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting

by

Most cities think it’s pretty swell to light up a Christmas tree and sing a few carols in the town square. But the folks in Meridian go all out with their holiday cheer and light up an entire parade.

The 2015 edition of the Meridian Winter Lights Parade—now in its third year—will step off at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4, at Storey Park, then roll down Main Street until it pauses at the corner of Main and Pine Avenue, where Santa will officially usher in the season by lighting up Generations Plaza. Some holiday-themed fireworks will also help light up the night. All of the parade floats and even some of the marching bands will be illuminated for the occasion and, of course, there’s always Rudolph’s red nose to lead Santa’s sleigh.
