Superintendent Glen Szymoniak had been placed on leave in late November. Two other unidentified district employees were also placed on paid leave, but one of those employees has since returned to work. As the local school board continued to meet in a string of closed-door sessions, everyone remained mum over exactly what was going on.
Meanwhile, the local newspaper—the McCall Star-News—chastised the elected officials, saying they were more beholden to their legal counsel than their constituents, writing that "It is obvious that the process has been hijacked by attorneys."
Now, Szymoniak has signed a separation agreement with the district, which will pay him $165,000. Szymoniak and members of the school board have refused to answer any questions about the issue.
Jim Foudy, principal of the Barbara Morgan Elementary School in McCall, has been named interim superintendent of the district, which will resume classes on Monday, Jan. 5.
