“I am standing up at the water's edge in my dream, I cannot make a single sound as you scream” —Peter Gabriel, “Red Rain”

Dear Dream Zone, I dreamed that I was cooking a big pot of body parts. There were arms and legs all cut up and I was having a conversation with some friends about which parts we liked best. This dream was so disturbing that I haven't even shared it with my husband or my friends. —Barbara 52, Morristown, TN

Lauri: Despite the cannibalism aspect to it, this dream seems quite pleasant: chatting with friends over a lovely pot of stew. To be cooking in a dream means you are planning something, cooking up some sort of idea or project. But you’ve got all these different body parts in your tasty concoction! This indicates that things have not fully come together yet. What project or idea has lots of elements to it? All these body parts are the "ingredients" you need to make something happen, to pull something together.

Barbara replies: Whew! I feel better now. I thought I was reverting to some weird need to eat people. As far as the project or preparing for something, my husband and I are looking to either adding on to our house or build or buy. We are really undecided and making plans. We have been vacillating between all the different options. So I really believe you have that dream analyzed very well. Thanks for your help—I think I can share my dream with my husband and my friends now without embarrassment!

Fascinating Dream Fact: Men tend to have sex dreams most frequently between late adolescence and their early twenties. Women's sexual dreams actually increase with age until about age 40, where it plateaus, then starts to decline around age 55.
