After spending a fair amount of time in the lights of television studios or near the spotlights of Boise Police Department cruisers, Lynn Hightower is about to spend her time around the streetlights of downtown Boise.

For the past dozen years, Hightower was director of communications for the BPD; she spent the previous 13 years as an anchor and reporter for KIVI-TV Channel 6. She is now the new executive director of the Downtown Boise Association, replacing Karen Sander who left the DBA in September after 11 years in the position.

Hightower is expected to assume her new role with DBA on Tuesday, Dec.1.

"A lot of great people are investing their time and talents into building downtown, and I am very excited to join that effort," wrote Hightower in an official announcement from DBA.

Among the numerous events sponsored or co-sponsored by the DBA are First Thursday, Alive After Five, the Downtown Boise Twilight Criterium, the city's annual Christmas tree lighting celebration, Dine Out Downtown and Christmas in the City.
