Lead Pencil Studio seeks to be “a new voice in the emerging field created from the interdisciplinary overlap of architecture and site-specific art.” Annie Han and Daniel Mihalyo will create a site-specific installation for BAM that exposes contemporary thoughts around the impermanence of architectural structures and their impact on our collective and individual memories. Han and Mihalyo founded Lead Pencil Studio in 1997, and have since completed such exhibition projects as the Seattle Staircase, an outdoor installation at the Sand Point Arts and Cultural Exchange. Lead Pencil Studio was recently awarded a visual arts grant from the Creative Capital Foundation in New York, and a special projects grant from Arts 4Culture in Seattle. The artists received the prestigious Prix de Rome in architecture in 2007.
