Laggies: Oh, Grow Up Already

Now playing at The Flicks

Keira Knightley stars in one of 2014's best and one of its worst (Guess which one this is)

Good news, Keira Knightley fans: She stars in one of 2014's best films. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait until Christmas Day to see The Imitation Game, which stars Knightley and Benedict Cumberbatch in a tale about Alan Turing. In the meantime, we have Laggies to contend with.

Here, Knightley plays commitment-phobe 28-year-old Megan, who panics when her high-school sweetheart proposes. Megan has particular disdain for her former high-school and college chums who are either engaged, married or pregnant—she's a selfish shrew who doesn't want to grow up. We've seen enough movies about this type of character and Laggies fails on every level. The script from writer-director Lynn Shelton (Your Sister's Sister) is pedestrian, mundane and too eager to please... and I was just as eager for this film to end.
