- Rep. Raul Labrador
"We have a problem at the border where we don't know who's coming in [and] who's leaving," said Labrador. "We have a visa entry problem where we know who's coming in legally but they're not leaving. We don't know why they're not leaving."
Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd asked Labrador to address Trump's "perception versus reality problem."
In mid-June, Trump said Mexican immigrants were "bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."
"There's always over-hype, especially when we're talking about Trump. He over-hypes everything. He over-hypes his ties. He over-hypes his suit. Everything he's going to talk about, he's going to over-hype. But he's hitting on an issue," said Labrador. "You have a gentleman who has crossed the United States border five times illegally. The only reason he was caught is because he was committing crimes. And finally, he's been caught hopefully for the last time, because he just killed in San Francisco. That's not over-hyping. That's a reality."
